Here's a quick one for the "every fascist accusation is actually a confession" files. You know how fascists are always describing a secret plot by "wealthy elites" to push Marxist ideology, demonize Christian conservatives, and reshape society according to the whims of stinking rich, ideologically-motivated power brokers? What isn't bullshit however is that there ARE a number of fantastically wealthy RIGHT wing power brokers, spending literally billions of dollars to push America to the right, prevent structural change, and protect the capitalist "right" to extract profit even if it burns the planet to ash - and they're not at all shy about pushing the country towards fascism to get there either.

This lengthy ProPublica expose from 2022 takes a look at one such power broker, Barre Seid, and his $1.6 billion dollar quest to fund right wing political objectives like climate science denial, ending abortion rights, "libertarian" and pro-corporate economic polices, restricting voting rights, stopping public healthcare, empowering winger think tanks to control public policy, funding noted elite winger apparatchik factory Hillsdale College, naming a library after dead fascist SCOTUS judge Antonin Scalia, and so forth. Amusingly enough, he does NOT support a trade war with China like so many other influential reactionaries in US politics do; probably because it's harmful to his and his companies' bottom lines.
You can read more about the guy in this article, but what's important to understand here is that there *IS* a plot to transform America at the whims of rich people, but they aren't "the left," they're dogsh*t winger billionaires like Barre Seid; and he is not alone. Furthermore, despite being in his 90's, his charitable donations to "Big Capitalism" and "Big Make America a Fascist Theocracy" will ensure he's still ruining your life and shaping your society in ways harmful to everyone but rich winger maggots, long after he shuffles off his mortal coil.

Seid’s $1.6 billion donation to Leonard Leo's Marble Freedom Trust is a landmark in the era of deregulated political spending ushered in by the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision
The creators of the Marble Freedom Trust shrouded their project in secrecy for more than two years.
The group’s name does not appear in any public database of business, tax or securities records. The Marble Freedom Trust is organized for legal purposes as a trust, rather than as a corporation. That means it did not have to publicly disclose basic details like its name, directors and address.
The trust was formed in Utah. Its address is a house in North Salt Lake owned by Tyler Green, a lawyer who clerked for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Green is listed in the trust’s tax return as an administrative trustee. The donation does not appear to violate any laws.
In an unusual maneuver, Leonard Leo was added as an officer to Barre Seid’s company. Seid left the company’s board, and his name was crossed out in state corporate disclosure filings. Source: Illinois Office of the Secretary of State.
