On Christmas Day 2024 the Eagle S — a shadow-fleet tanker — dragged its anchor across the Baltic seabed and sliced the Estlink 2 power cable between Finland and Estonia, plus four telecom lines.
Finnish commandos boarded by helicopter. The ship had no anchors. Divers mapped a 100-km drag scar; the missing anchor came back with one arm snapped off.
A Helsinki court threw the case out last October. The ship itself? Scrapped in Turkey.
