Started typing an email response to my client with my take on their request, and nailing down the details.
I'm realizing I'm putting waaaay too much detail in it. It's just too much text.
Time for some wireframes.
(for which, btw, balsamiq is still my favorite tool)
Neither are good enough for me when starting a project from scratch. In that case, #Balsamiq is best.
For some clients, it might be weird to look at a wireframe full of strange shapes, but it's exactly what's needed to focus the attention on the content organisation and on the hints of what the interaction might be.
The Clinical Bioinformatics group focuses on the development of harmonized, state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools for the analysis and interpretation of clinical -omics data, covering a wide range of medical fields. These tools contribute to facilitate patient management, as well as diagnostic and treatment decisions in hospitals throughout Switzerland. Following the expansion of the SIB Clinical Bioinformatics activities, we are seeking a Web Developer, to be responsible for the frontend mock-up development (UX) of web-based bioinformatics tools and participate to their development and testing, in collaboration with other colleagues. Job tasks This person’s mission will be to: Participate to the collection and documentation of users’ needs (functional specifications), in collaboration with other Clinical Bioinformatics colleaguesPrepare mock interfaces (Balsamiq, HTML, Vue.js), and iterate them as needed with end users until validationContribute to the development and deployment of the frontend, in close collaboration with other backend or frontend developersConduct end-to-end application testingEnsure the delivery of milestones with clinical-grade qualityActively remain up to date on web development tools and methodEnsure tools maintenance and end-users support as neededWrite or participate to the writing of documentation as needed (user documentation, software documentation)Travel within Switzerland as required to collaborate with hospitals and other SIB groups (20%, mostly day trips)
