Born in 1916, Valentim de Barros was a Portuguese #balletdancer and considered the first from #portugal to build an international career. In 1939, he was deported from Germany. Once in Portuguese territory, he was handed over to the PVDE and held for 3 months and then committed to the Miguel Bombarda psychiatric hospital for homosexuality. In 1949, he was subjected to electroshock therapy and a lobotomy. He was discharged after the Revolution of April 25, 1974, but as he had no family to care for him, he remained living at the hospital until he died in 1986 at the age of 69.
