#BaldursGate3 running on a #Steamdeck outputting to a #CRT .
And it is gorgeous. It fits fantasy worlds so well?
The light haziness everything has contributes greatly to the games atmosphere.
Kinda a repost but this might be enjoyable to enough people to warrant going onto the public timeline.
Played some Baldur’s Gate 3 and kept getting assistance from companions when rolling the dice. Last night it only happened once from Gale so I thought it was due to his subclass of bladesinger. I hadn’t tried it before, so it seemed to make sense.
Realised today it must be a mod. It’s “best in party skills”. I don’t like things making it easier so I’ll remove it. Hadn’t quite realised what it does. Quite a few mods, I try out and find I don’t like after all (some give just too many options of outfits or new spells, and I find it overwhelming). Quality of Life mods are the best, though.
With many games, I’ll take easy mode, but with turn-based I have no issue with reaction speed. Even tactician mode gets easy with a mod for more than three companions in the party. There’s a mod for honor mode rules without the “survive or it’s over” part, and I might try that too.
Played Auris for a while so got a picture of her. She’s a seldarine drow light cleric. Her face is Ronto from the Pretty Boys set on NexusMods.
Despite the magnesium-tiredness, I got enough energy to make two more Baldur’s Gate 3 characters (boosted by some dark chocolate I barely even like but, gods, my brain wanted it). Wood elf swarmkeeper (I went with the name Bastien, keeping Ballistrae in mind as his surname).
And a seldarine drow light cleric who misunderstands her god Lathander’s teachings and errs towards cruelty, and maybe enjoys it (she might learn from her new companions along the way). Her name is Auris. Went with a slightly over the top gold theme for her look. Bastien is very wood elf with ginger-brown hair and makeup in green and bronze.
Forgot to take a photo of Auris, and Bastien’s is without the dark blue bird tattoo on his cheek. But him as he is otherwise using the face Blake in the Pretty Boys set from NexusMods (Auris is another from that set - they’re intentionally somewhat androgynous and work with body types 1 and 2).

I have fallen in love with this guy, Blake of SGT’s Pretty Boys. He’ll be my wood elf with the glowing moths and jellyfish, and probably won’t look quite like this (pale with dark hair, I mean).

Also found this game overhaul which I‘m planning to try out with a dhampir gunslinger - https://mod.io/g/baldursgate3/m/dnd55e#description
I wondered why they made Baldur’s Gate 3 with the DnD rules of 2014 until I remembered it took six years to make, then released in 2023, so began in 2017. I like some mods, but also leave many of them. Too many options are overwhelming and I quite like the game how it is. Can be too taxing to read and choose from yet more.
New BG3 character - Tristes, a dark urge Asmodeus tiefling and hexblade warlock.
I planned 100% evil with him to see how it affects the endings, but as I made him I couldn’t bring myself to. I have three dark urge girls and one is quite awful. I came up with a rounded personality and it’s more interesting. I’m surprised to keep thinking of darker motivations, but this game is a fabulous playground for it.
We let go of two companions (well, dispatched). One I debated briefly and the other suddenly seemed annoying. I thought the new guy’s crush on one of the others gave it roleplay reasons (in my head, though dialogue and quest choices are huge in the game).
So that’s their storylines gone which makes things a little quicker. I’m snooping into every house in my first playthrough and I need to be more flexible. The tedium can put you off going back.
