Second attempt at Brioche. Went better than the first try, which did not rise at all after coming out of the oven. Still not happy with it though. Think I need 50% more ingredients for my pan size.

When the recipe said "just like store-bought" they clearly hadn't seen my creation. This keto brownie monchou masterpiece looks like it survived three natural disasters, but hey - it's my birthday cake and I'll eat it anyway! The blueberries on top are doing their best to spell 55. Okay, bad things happened.

My spouse has informed me that I “basically made pizza dough” - it’s not bad, but it’s definitely not focaccia.

(We tore it into pieces and dipped it into tomato basil sauce.)

Just tried out a maple-walnut plait recipe to use up some spare pastry I had leftover from yesterday. The recipe sounded great, I had all the ingredients... What could go wrong?

Final reports are in and data have been analyzed: Inaugural #Bread was a resounding failure on every level!

- Leathery, chewy, impenetrable crust
- Raw, sticky, dense innards
- Mostly flavorless (this actually earned some points back as the flavor was not actively offensive)

On the plus side, the recipe is vegan so it's still (mostly) edible, and even very poorly executed warm carbs are still warm carbs. Butter improved the situation tremendously.

I have too much pride to post what the whole cake looks like. It looks like it fell down some stairs. But here’s a slice of my grandmother’s cake. The filling has so much in it: cherries, pecan, pineapple, golden raisins, and dried figs. It should not taste good and yet it does. This is infuriating. #baking #bakingfails
