Those mice will bind it,
Every little bit of it
They will fix like new

Apologies to UK readers of a certain age who now have "we will stickle it, every little bit of it, we will fix like new new new" echoing round their heads. You're welcome.

Sandra Kerr, who wrote and recorded the music for #bagpuss, based the mouse music on 13th century round Summer is Icumen In.

Yesterday was the day that I learned that the cleaning and fixing song sung by the mice in #Bagpuss is the tune of "Sumer is icumen in", one of the oldest surviving songs in English.

Not from someone stating the fact. But from hearing the tune of "Sumer is icumen in" and thinking to myself: Hold on! I recognize that from somewhere.

It took a minute or so of humming before I placed it.
