Just watched a male Cardinal get rejected so hard.
I feel like it is all of the inexperienced fledglings from last year who are making all of this hullabaloo in the backyard.
Last week I was quietly sitting outside when a squirrel ran right next to me. It was so close, then it looked at me and fled.
Just now I nearly lost my nose to a female bluejay zipping past.

The absolute focus on the rabbit.. that hawk is locked in.
I guess it got pissed because it hopped back on the fence and started squawking at us.
I had to remind the wife: "hey, hawks got to eat too, let's give it some space"
The usual neighborhood cardinals and other birds were chirping like crazy as if to say "danger danger"
And right on cue..

@[email protected] the smaller birds are really messy, pigeons and grackles will pick at the remaining bits on the ground and then you have the rabbits that show up and sometimes compete with the squirrels with what’s left near the bird feeder and all of that commotion causes the red tailed hawks to make a visit and see what all the fuss is about

TIL that Robins also suffer from "Not invented Here" syndrome.
So building on yesterday's #backyarddrama. The robins eventually chilled out after getting tired of seeing me coming out and clapping at them.
I checked the same spot today and behold there was a nest in progress. I get got the ladder and knocked that one down and checked on the "empty" one and saw that it was also unoccupied and knocked that one down too.
I'm impressed what they can do without thumbs

I know you are on a timetable here, but this ain't Zootopia or Noah's ARK.. you need to bounce" So she flies away and comes back with a beak full of straw and keeps building anyway #backyarddrama #nature
