Important Update regarding the Northern Flicker Family in my yard.

I've still been seeing and hearing the flickers in the 10 days since the youngster left the nesting cavity.

This morning I saw 4 (four!) flickers together in a group, and I now believe there were indeed 2 babies (even though I never saw more than one at a time).

I was lucky to get this photo from the front porch.

On my blog, I just published a post that tells the story of the Northern Flicker Family in my front yard.

From the blogging perspective, I’m still grappling with the best way to display photos. At the moment, clicking on a photo gives higher resolution. I don’t really like that all the photos are linked (as if it were part of gallery). Interestingly, Wikipedia pages function the same way.

An Oak Titmouse was feeding on the ground when I startled it. It flew directly up and onto a vertical fencepost, clinging there and studying me.

I didn't know they could do that.
