The Greater #Manchester #Baccalaureate (MBacc) is creating direct routes into public service careers through new T Level placements and apprenticeships. Over 160 new opportunities will be offered in 2025 across the Bee Network’s bus, tram, and rail services. NHS placements include Greater Manchester’s first midwifery T Level at Royal Oldham Hospital, plus roles at The Christie and Stockport #NHS Trust. The MBacc, developed with employers and colleges, helps guide young people into high-demand sectors. T Levels, equivalent to three A Levels, combine classroom study with at least 45 days of work placement. Greater Manchester leads nationally, with a 94% T Level pass rate. Mayor Andy Burnham called for more employers to get involved, saying the MBacc provides a real alternative to university. The Bee Network is also working with schools to promote careers in transport and align training with future skills needs.

Oh FFS... haven't #schools had enough 'reform,'... now #RishiSunak has revived the idea of an English #baccalaureate.

While many would agree that A-levels are too narrowly focussed, the move to a baccalaureate system without significant reform of the rest of the system would be a disaster;

and reforming the rest of a system currently in crisis & with a lack of goodwill from #Teachers sounds more like another swing of the wrecking ball rather than a real desire to improve the UK's #education
