Come to our lecture on the AEG strike 20 years ago.

On 20 January 2006, the employees of AEG Hausgeräte GmbH in Nuremberg went on indefinite strike against the closure of their factory.

A month earlier, the parent company Elektrolux had announced the closure of the site, which had already led to a wildcat strike.

In this event, we want to take a closer look at why one of the most impressive strikes in the recent history of the Federal Republic of Germany was a success for the working class and yet failed at the same time.

At a time when job cuts and site closures are once again at the top of the class struggle agenda, the experiences of the AEG workers 20 years ago are particularly valuable.

We can learn together for future struggles from past struggles ✊

Kommt zu unserem Vortrag über den AEG Streik vor 20 Jahren.

Am 20. Januar 2006 treten die Beschäftigten der AEG Hausgeräte GmbH in Nürnberg in den unbefristeten Streik gegen die Schließung ihres Werks.

Einen Monat zuvor hatte der Mutterkonzern Elektrolux die Schließung des Standorts angekündigt woraufhin es bereits zu einem wilden Streik kam.

Warum einer der eindruckvollsten Streiks in der jüngeren Geschichte der BRD ein Erfolg für die Arbeiter:innenklasse war und gleichzeitig doch scheiterte wollen wir in einer Veranstaltung genauer beleuchten.

In Zeiten in denen Stellenabbau und Standortschließungen wieder ganz oben auf der Tagesordnung des Klassenkampf stehen sind die Erfahrungen, welche die AEG Kolleginnen vor 20 Jahren gemacht haben besonders wertvoll.

Aus vergangenen Kämpfen können wir gemeinsam für kommende lernen ✊

After being arrested in the Sonnenallee on 12 February 2024 for chanting "From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free", our comrade is facing charges under penal code §86 StGB:

the use and distribution of propaganda materials of unconstitutional and terror organisations.

When Germany banned Samidoun Palestinian Prisoners Solidarity Network and Hamas in November 2023, the ministry of interior deliberately added the slogan as "belonging" to the two organisations, opening with that a new door to criminalize the Palestine solidarity movement and attempt to reshape our discourse.

Making the mere call for the liberation of Palestine and the dismantling of the Zionist colony "illegal".

🫡Germany is preparing for war again. The Western democracies are threatened by imperialist dictatorships from the East, and Germany is effectively defenseless. This narrative is the basis for an arms build-up unprecedented since World War II.

💥It is accompanied by processes of militarization of the state apparatus. At the same time, movements are being showered with repression, as demonstrated by the Rheinmetall disarmament protests and the Palestine solidarity movement.

💣Militarization and rearmament are driving the fascistization of society, and supposed security policies are undermining fundamental rights.

💬We discuss the concepts of fascistization and war regimes and what strategies we need to develop to counter them.
