🎬 Film Screening: Between the Borders (2024) and Q and A About the French-British Border 🎥

Between Calais and Grande-Synthe in Northern France, teams of volunteers from the association Utopia 56 patrol the coastline at night in search of vulnerable people.

These individuals are living in exile and desperately trying to reach the English coast, no matter the cost or the deployment of police forces on site to stop them.

The daily mission of these volunteers is to provide assistance to people living in extreme precarity and to prevent the worst from happening — shipwrecks at sea.

🎬 Filmvorführung: Between the Borders (2024) und Q&A zur französisch-britischen Grenze 🎥

Zwischen Calais und Grande-Synthe in Nordfrankreich patrouillieren Teams von Freiwilligen des Vereins Utopia 56 nachts an der Küste auf der Suche nach schutzbedürftigen Menschen.

Diese Menschen leben im Exil und versuchen verzweifelt, die englische Küste zu erreichen, ungeachtet der Kosten oder des Einsatzes von Polizeikräften vor Ort, die sie daran hindern wollen.

Die tägliche Aufgabe dieser Freiwilligen besteht darin, Menschen in extremer Notlage zu helfen und das Schlimmste zu verhindern – Schiffbrüche auf See.

Next Thursday, the 19.03. in Rigaer Straße 94 we want to come together at 19:00 to watch the film "When I saw you".

🕖 Movie: 19:00

The movie follows Tarek, a young Palestinian boy who has to flee together with his mother to Jordan in 1967.

Having been separated from his beloved father, Tarek has difficulties adjusting to the life in the refugee camp, and decides to leave the camp on his own to look for his father.

On this journey he meets a group of like-minded people of revolutionaries with whom he embarks on a journey that will change their life.

Warm food and cold drinks for donation will be as always provided.

This time the donation from the food, will go to publishing the german translation of a book from a woman from Gaza!

After the screening of the movie we want to have a discussion.

🗣 The movie is in Arabic and will have English subtitles and we can provide if needed German whisper translation during the discussion afterwards!

Am kommenden Donnerstag, dem 19.03., wollen wir uns um 19:00 Uhr in der Rigaer Straße 94 treffen, um den Film „When I saw you“ anzuschauen.

🕖 Film: 19:00 Uhr
🕣 Essen: 20:30 Uhr

Der Film handelt von Tarek, einem jungen palästinensischen Jungen, der 1967 zusammen mit seiner Mutter nach Jordanien fliehen muss.

Da er von seinem geliebten Vater getrennt wurde, hat Tarek Schwierigkeiten, sich an das Leben im Flüchtlingslager zu gewöhnen, und beschließt, das Lager auf eigene Faust zu verlassen, um seinen Vater zu suchen.

Auf dieser Reise trifft er auf eine Gruppe gleichgesinnter Revolutionäre, mit denen er sich auf eine Reise begibt, die ihr Leben verändern wird.

Wie immer gibt es warmes Essen und kalte Getränke gegen eine Spende.

Diesmal geht die Spende aus dem Essensverkauf an die Veröffentlichung der deutschen Übersetzung eines Buches einer Frau aus Gaza!

Nach der Filmvorführung möchten wir eine Diskussion veranstalten.

No respite – history is being made!

The history crystallised in history books is the history of the ruling classes about their rule.

But there is another history. The history of a movement that rebels against this rule and organises itself autonomously.

Squatting, anti-fascist and anti-militarist actions, resistance against the nuclear contamination of living spaces, alternative visions against the neoliberal restructuring of the world, or spontaneous outbursts of anger against blatant injustice are events that this history recounts.

It will be told by someone who would have liked to have been there. Who was, and still is, there. Who has preserved their autonomy in the face of the rulers’ history and therefore tells the story of the autonomists from a first-person perspective. Because it is also their own.
