Generation Z is rebelling against corruption, inequality and oppression worldwide.

This is also the case in Kenya, where there were massive protests last year against the regime of the current president, William Ruto. Kenya has a very unequal society, with a few super-rich people, but the majority living in poverty.

There are no leaders in the current protests. It is now an entire generation, millions of young people, who feel marginalised and do not know how to escape the poverty trap.

The government has responded with brutal force and is trying to suppress the protests.

We talk to Panya from Kenya, who had to flee the repression of the Kenyan government, about the current situation in the country, the climate Justice movement and what we can learn from the protests.

Die Generation Z rebelliert weltweit gegen Korruption, Ungleichheit und Unterdrückung.

Das ist auch in Kenia der Fall, wo es im vergangenen Jahr massive Proteste gegen das Regime des derzeitigen Präsidenten William Ruto gab.

Kenia ist eine sehr ungleiche Gesellschaft, in der es wenige Superreiche gibt, die Mehrheit jedoch in Armut lebt.

Die aktuellen Proteste haben keine Anführer. Es ist nun eine ganze Generation, Millionen junger Menschen, die sich ausgegrenzt fühlen und keinen Ausweg aus der Armutsfalle sehen.

Die Regierung hat mit brutaler Gewalt reagiert und versucht, die Proteste zu unterdrücken.

Wir sprechen mit Panya aus Kenia, der vor der Unterdrückung durch die kenianische Regierung fliehen musste, über die aktuelle Situation im Land, die Klimagerechtigkeitsbewegung und was wir aus den Protesten lernen können.

Assata Shakur remained active in the revolutionary struggle until the end of her life.

She joined the Black Panther Party at a young age, where she provided support in the form of medical care and food supplies to neighbourhoods.

Eventually, she also joined the Black Liberation Army in the armed struggle against capitalism.

As a revolutionary woman, she also fought against patriarchal tendencies within the Black Panther Party and recognised masculinity as a threat to the realisation of socialism.

Determined and conscious of her cause, she endured solitary confinement until her release and spent the rest of her life in Cuba. She passed away in September last year.

Bis zum zum Ende ihres Lebens blieb Assata Shakur im revolutionären Kampf aktiv.

Sie trat in jungen Jahren der Black Panther Party bei, wo sie Unterstützung bei der medizinischen Versorgung und Lebensmittelversorgung von Nachbarschaften leistete.

Schließlich schloss sie sich auch der Black Liberation Army im bewaffneten Kampf gegen den Kapitalismus an.

Als revolutionäre Frau kämpfte sie auch gegen patriarchale Tendenzen innerhalb der Black Panther Party und erkannte Männlichkeit als Bedrohung für die Verwirklichung des Sozialismus.

Entschlossen und sich ihrer Sache bewusst, ertrug sie bis zu ihrer Befreiung ihre Einzelhaft, und verbrachte den Rest ihres Lebens in Kuba. Sie verstarb im September letzten Jahres.

Amidst war and destruction, women are creating spaces of hope: they are founding villages, teaching children, setting up workshops and fighting for freedom, solidarity and equality.

The film accompanies the protagonists, who represent a new generation that is overcoming patriarchal structures and shaping its own future 🫂.

The ongoing struggle for Rojava is crucial; it defends a model for peaceful, pluralistic coexistence in a region scarred by war.
