So far the discussion seems to involve the answer: Yes, No, or Maybe. The weekend saw good articles in #TheSaturdayPaper (Karen Barlow) and Canberra Times (Jack Waterford). The discussion has emphasised post election funding distributed by AEC.

Not really covered so far are: Reps v. Senate, party candidate selection, and the different view from encumbency. (1/3)

I'm really tired of the misleading conversations, especially between journalists and politicians, that would lead anyone to believe political parties decide where your preferences (in the lower house) are distributed.

This is not true and utterly bullshit. These "preferences" they're discussing are the little pieces of paper they try to stick in your hand as you walk into the polling place.

Only you decide where your preferences go as you list them by numbering in sequence all lower house candidates.

I just wish these fuckwits would make this clear especially for new voters.

Despite One Nation running in second in the primary vote, I'm struggling to find any seats where One Nation has a decent chance at winning.

I can see one, maybe two, bush seats where they have a chance, but those are seats which are so complicated that it's hard to tell.
