Whelp, we did see Dappled Cities live again tonight, and they were fantastic.

So tight, and a great setlist of some old favourites and new songs that they really brought to life live. Also a lot of fun in a small venue, where we could chat to the band members afterwards.

This time it was with the offspring, who had three of their albums in the soundtrack to her teenage years. So good to see her enjoy it that much.

How did I ever miss this?So good - can't believe its coming up on 13 years since Chrissy Amphlett's passing.

@DJDarren In #AusMusic circles, mention 100 and everyone will talk about the #hottest100 , a radio poll of the hottest 100 songs (normally for the last year, with exceptions) run by Triple J, a government run youth station which kind of mashes the sound of BBC 1 / 6 Music together. It's a big poll with 3.2million votes in 2019.

Some of the best Australian songs to top the poll

One Crowded Hour - Augie March. (#1 2006) Just a beautiful magical song which builds and builds. My definite choice.

The SnowDroppers - Fucked Up Blues

"When people are screaming a song that you haven't written at you on stage, you have what we like to call the Fucked Up Blues"

https://youtu.be/lvQAUNLOrxY

🎶 You're miles from nowhere and you've got no place to go
Lie down on that gravel road and sing down straight to hell
There's a life leads from your guts
And the devil claws your face
You take a look at your miserable life and how you got to this fucked up place, yeah

Your wife she left you for another man
...

You're runnin' from the Lord, now you're a wanted man
That bitch could rot in hell, she's the best you ever had
Your house, your car, your job, she took all your cash
That's not the worst of it, now she took all your stash

And I said
You got them fucked up blues, oh yeah
Oh, yeah 🎶

@DJDarren @Troggie Happy anniversary! Some #AusMusic "tin" themed songs for you to choose from. #ThePlaylistSuggestion

Tin Legs And Tin Mines - Midnight Oil. S'obvious innit.

Innerbloom - RÜFÜS DU SOL
It's a magical musical journey released in 2016, so also celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Appropriately "If you want me, If you need me, I'm yours".

(There is the less magical radio edit if the full version is too long).

And lastly - Tasmania had the largest tin mines in the Southern Hemisphere for a while - similar to Cornwall. My favourite Tassie act are an "indie noir" band called "The Paradise Motel". They were stunning live.

Bad Light - The Paradise Motel.

Drive - The Paradise Motel (covering The Cars). There's also a Mogwai remix for the resident Mogwai lover.....

Holly Throsby  - Making a Fire

https://youtu.be/c1lpsu-PRyA

🎶 It's cold out but I don't mind it
I'm making a fire
Out of what I might find here
The old and the dying
We don't want them coming in
No!
Their heavy machinery
Messing up our young thinking
All night long
Now I'm here
And you're here
We're here! We're here!
It's cold out
It's bitter winter
We're making a fire 🎶

🎶 If I don't come home before midnight
And I call out your name in the dark
You'll know that I've been tempted
And I'll know that I've got no heart

And I'll know I won't be expected
And you'll think we're drifting apart
And I might as well be blowing at the top of the world
When my fingers find your body in the dark

Everything's on fire 🎶
