Hey! It's #fortnightFridayMusic & the cue is:
Word on the street is that "rubies are red, violets are blue", so with that in mind, from the album Ruby:
The Killjoys - Wish
02:55 packed with aural and lyrical delights, with lyrics that I had to once again dig the vinyl out to get:
🎶 I remembered several years of walking side by side
A land mine in his head, pulling nails from his heart
I remember looking hard at things he idolised
...and the windswept warring tress
the day he left me
With a hollow guarantee, that he would always be free
I wished that I could turn my head
Hide the empty thoughts that
always want to bury me
I wish that I could turn my head...
around
I remember talking endlessly of days behind
Why she should've left and how he never slept
I remember thinking then how much I shouldn't care
...and the windswept warring tress
the day he left me 🎶

Hey! It's #fortnightFridayMusic & the cue is:
which finishes off the reverse rainbow 🎉
I'm putting my surfboard under my arm and running into the surf to the post-apocalyptic surf tunes from 1984's Red Sails in the Sunset, particularly:
Midnight Oil - Bells and Horns in the Back of Beyond
A haunting open with lyrics about waiting for a train that I don't think runs anymore ( @ajsadauskas would know ) before bursting into a romping surf tune, you can feel the waves on Sydney's Northern Beaches (where the band and myself are from) washing over you:
🎶 The Southern Aurora was late again
As I waited at central to take you home
Winking spinning sparkling lights on our flat earth
You talked about the old groundling ways
Where the suburbs summer pulse and play in wrinkled sand in
Never never never neverland
I get home I see them I drive down
I look out and I see those lines and lines and lines of swell and smiles
Coolangatta, what's the matter?
Paradise, it's a surfer's world and flashing lights and real estate
With one last wave
Ah, get up and run
'Cause there's a beach lies quiet near the open sea
And a carpark lay stretched where the bindis used to be
When will I be yours?
When will I be mine? 🎶

@DJDarren @losttourist My #AusMusic #ThePlaylistSuggestion (s) on the theme of "To Gaol with ye!" (*) are
The Living End - "Prisoner of Society". Because there aren't enough 1990s era 3 piece post punk bands who played bass with double bass.

And I will take a free pass because of the English stereotype joke that "All Australians are convicts" hence all #AusMusic is on theme, and select a person favourite of a banger.
Paul Mac (featuring Peta Morris) - "Sunshine Eyes"

I just had my own personal WhoSampled moment with the closing credits sequence from the Australian music video clip show "Rage", familiar to generations of Australian 20-somethings.

I was actually fast-forwarding through an episode of Rage (to see if there was another episode of QI later on, because I'm of a certain age). And noticed this bit of footage:

I thought "That looks familiar...", so I rewound and watched the clip and I noticed that this chord also appears prominently:

Anyway, it turns out that they used an edit of the Extended Mix of "Speed Your Love to Me" by Simple Minds.
Starting at the start: https://youtu.be/zUUBPGswCLc
And then cutting to 42sec in: https://youtu.be/zUUBPGswCLc?t=42
It's always weird when you find a famous sample out of context.

Someone just reminded me of The Beasts of Bourbon and the first song that I pull up is this and I'm transported back to an incredibly well-spent youth. I have no idea how many times I saw them back in the day, but it was every chance I got.
