More time-lapse footage from the night of March 20, taken in the Goldstream Valley of Fairbanks, Alaska. Moon just hanging out in those high altitude reds on the left.
A sliver of crescent moon in the aurora, Friday night over the Goldstream Valley. The moon was only about 3% illuminated. Thin enough that it barely competed with the aurora, but it added something to the scene that's hard to describe. In longer exposures, you can see the full disk lit by earthshine; in shorter ones, only the bright crescent.
