Information (English):
By Nashilongweshipwe Mushaandja, Angelika Waniek & Frederike Moormann Live between Windhoek and Nauen
Satellites fly. Masts transmit. Horns call. This performative audiowalk opens a transcultural dialogue between Namibia and Germany – about stories of telecommunications.
Music, stories and walking through landscapes draw connections from techniques of communication with ancestors to the involvement of large German companies in the genocide in Namibia from 1904 to 1908 to current satellite technology.
The double audiowalk takes place simultaneously in Namibia and Germany. Internet and radio technology create a connection between the two performance venues. We will broadcast the walk that has been adapted to the landscape in Windhoek through the radio station in Nauen on short wave. The people in Windhoek and Nauen will hear the same audiowalk simultaneously, and will walk through a different yet interconnected landscape. A concert will be broadcast between the two cities through the internet and will connect the two landscapes.
Let’s get moving. From Windhoek (Namibia) to Nauen (Germany) and back.
