In Session, there is no phone number, no address book, no logs of who spoke to whom. It is the best choice if the risk is having your device seized and trying to trace your network of contacts.
#SIMPLEX Who uses it: Whistleblowers, informants, crypto-anarchists. Why: It is the only app where a "user profile" truly doesn't exist on the server. If the server is seized, there is nothing to find. It is used when contact secrecy is vital more than ease of use.

...If you use a bridge to talk to someone on (for example) WhatsApp, the security drops to WhatsApp's level. Example... you use the official ELEMENT X app of matrix and therefore use the absolute maximum encryption security, but the recipient uses a mail service or opens their message on an unofficial app, the security drops to that of the recipient's app; you never know if the other person will open the message in a secure instance at your same level or not. Compromise: The interface, especially the classic Element one, can be confusing with too many technical options. "Element X" is a more modern and simplified version, but the Matrix ecosystem requires a minimum learning curve and the information found about it has quite technical explanations regarding the various steps.
