I’m trying to connect with fellow nonbelievers, especially Black atheists. No shade, but this journey hits different when you’re navigating it in a culture where questioning religion can feel like you just cussed in church… during a baptism.

I remember the #goodolddays when the #atheistcommunity on #youtube descended into a mud slinging #shitfest dominated by all round #drama ... inevitably, as #mastodon grows there will be various #groups and #communities pitted against each other. It's an unavoidable part of taking part in any online community. It's worse when people demand that one must take one side or the other.
I'll do my best to avoid falling into that trap again. People who want to cause drama can do so without me. Have fun

"Why do some people include 'atheist' in their bios on various social media platforms?" I can't speak for everyone who does this, but I do it to help normalize atheism and to make it easier for atheists to connect with others who don't believe in gods. Building community and reducing isolation seem worthwhile.
@BeatTheCult I would not know, but I think we should be using #Hashtags a plenty.
