Just finished Atelier Yumia. To put it shortly, I don't like it very much. Maybe my most disliked Atelier game since Firis, although for completely different reasons.
The alchemy system is bad. They are kind of continuing in the direction of making it so that the recipes are so free-form, that they are barely recipes. Late game, you can pretty much just slap your highest quality ingredients blindly into any slot and you'll end up with maxed items (ignoring equipment.)
Furthermore, they decided to introduce leveling recipes in order to unlock more effects (rather than using ingredients wisely.) The materials required come from unmarked spots in the environment. You occasionally have a blue path revealed that will lead you to these spots. I'm not sure why they put this extra step in, it doesn't really add anything. It's just kind of annoying?
On the plus side, the game on normal is pretty trivial. You probably don't really need to do that much alchemy in order to beat the game.
I will say, the exploration part of it was pretty good, at least. And at least the PC port felt somewhat competent as far as the Atelier series goes.
