Wait, it was an upper stage failure? That's nice to hear. I was worried that reusing the lower stage was being problematic, but it might just be that Blue Origin needs more experience in orbital launches.

New Glenn's First Failure - What Do We Know?

Blue Origin just successfully reused the lower stage of their heavy-life launch vehicle. The engines were new and some of the avionics were upgraded, but it's still really exciting. Especially since they landed it again.

I can't wait to see what kind of impact this will have on the launch market.

Of course, the previous record holders — the infamous Apollo 13 crew — did not intend to be so far to the moon, they just did not have the resources (mainly oxygen and CO2 removal capabilities, not even enough current to power the heating) to set themselves into a lunar orbit… they almost did not manage to return safely to Earth!

The Artemis II crew are just going through the motions and verifying everything is correct. They still have a lot to do on their mission, and so far everything seems nominal!

When will the Artemis program have done enough to have a book written about it? And how long will it take for the details of those accomplishments to trickle down to the authors?

Does the poor audio quality remind anyone else of Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope? Specifically durring the battle of Yavin.

It's nice to see a decent amount of activity in the fediverse over NASA's Artemis 2 launch.
