My nine-year-old has started getting into programming, and I'm trying to figure out how to ease him into it.
When I was his age, I learned using the Advanced BASIC Programming manual that came with the family Commodore 64. That was obviously a different time. It seems he already wants to learn Typescript.
He started with making a Gameboy game with GB Studio, but now wants to modify GB Studio itself to do new stuff.
Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions on a decent git GUI client that works on Linux. The kids' computer runs Fedora. I think I'm going with git-cola, but would love any other suggestions.
I regularly see #users on #Mastadon #retooting their own #toots. What is the idea here? I simply imagine them thinking "my toot was so good, I have to repeat it so people can read it again."
Obviously I'm missing something, but can't work out what.
I'm looking for a new mechanical keyboard. I have a Keychron and I really dislike it. Seems like I fight it. Keys are not shaped right for me. I have to leave it plugged in because I can't monitor its battery levels. So I know Satechi's are well-thought-of. Any others I should be looking at?
Does anyone know of any Makerspaces/Hackerspaces in Houston, TX? Asking for a friend.
Yesterday I tried to find a good power bank to buy and was frustrated by the fact that searching for "best power banks 2024" does not return much useful or trustworthy stuff.
Do you people have a strategy for situations like this?

Hello fellow couch surfers.
I was just about to subscribe to Withings +. But I hesitated - it's so darn expensive. There must be free and open-source alternatives 'around town'.
What's your best tool for keeping records and measurements? Where do you find great recipes for healthy food?
I have a Withings smartwatch, and I think there's a way to export data to CSV.What say you all?
