@markhburton Do you know the great works and struggle by the late Paco Puche in Spain against asbestos and the asbestos tycoons? He wrote lots of articles and published some must-read books on the problem. For example: https://www.catarata.org/libro/amianto_44878/

Amianto

This whole series of posts reminds me of @pluralistic calling #LLM-generated code the #asbestos of time. #ClaudeCode doesn't just produce #asbestosCode; because it's written using Claude Code, it is asbestos code.

To the surprise of no one with a clue about #appSec or the #engineering part of #softwareEngineering, plagiarism synthesis models are tech debt generators.

I first learned about this back in the 1970's, due to cleanup aboard ships.

Then in the 1980's - the clean up in housing.

But even today - people/companies are denying that Asbestos is harmful... all while "they have that cough"... much like tobacco folks.

Does this sound foreign to you? Then watch and learn...

@eri yes and that's why #Asbestos still has nieches like high-temperature ovens like in a steel foundry.

And those "spechal use-cases" are still legal because not only are there no alternatives to handle i.e. molten Tungsten, but also because these ain't "frivolous" but have proper casings and handling and not "consumer-facing"…
