I've gone Arts Award crazy over the last few weeks! Continuing sessions with the Home Ed and Creative Connections groups in Alfreton and also a half term 'Discover in a Day' session with a group of young leaders in Newton.

Lot's of great work produced and reflections by the young people involved, here's some snippets from the activities.

Some thoughts on this #ArtsCouncil story in the Indo today https://m.independent.ie/irish-news/arts-council-asked-for-sexual-identity-and-religion-of-those-seeking-grants/a909106926.html. First off: DPC can’t “grant an extension” on data breach notifications under Article 33. 72 hours is a hard deadline. After that data controllers (like the Arts Council) got some ‘splainin’ to do. I suspect this is what has happened. Also: highly likely this breach only on DPC radar because of (waves hands) all the other things.
Arts Council asked for sexual identity and religion of those seeking grants

The Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) has written to the Arts Council asking for further details on the “nature and content” of questions asked of artists when they were applying for bursary grants earlier this year.

Zeitgeist -- Based On Poems By Jill Robin by Tony Coe, released on EMI as part of their Lansdowne Series in 1977.

Wonderful Arts Council funded LP by Gideon Coe's dad. Love it!

"A very hip set from the UK scene -- composed and led by Tony Coe on soprano, tenor, and bass clarinet -- with work from Norman Winstone on voice, Kenny Wheeler and Henry Lowther on trumpets, Frank Ricotti on percussion, Chris Pyne on trombone, and James Gregory on flute!" Dusty Groove

The Arts Council of Ireland has written off €5.3m on ‘substandard work’ and an IT system that was ‘not fit for purpose’ while artists try to make ends meet. This has to be the beginning of real change, writes Toner Quinn.

Nearly ready to send attempt 3 of my #ArtsCouncil application. Last time I feel I came really close so not many changes to make. Gotta keep plugging away!
