Este verano, CETURSA, la empresa pública que explota la estación de esquí de Sierra Nevada, tiene previsto construir un nuevo telesquí de 1,6 Km de longitud, junto con el correspondiente sistema de producción de nieve artificial, en una zona protegida de Sierra Nevada. El proyecto, al que tan sólo le falta obtener el permiso municipal, forma parte de un plan de inversiones mucho más vasto, el Plan Estratégico Sierra Nevada 2020-2030, que contempla destinar más de 200 millones de euros a la ampliación (más pistas, más remontes, más cañones, más máquinas pisapistas, más hoteles y apartamentos, más aparcamientos subterráneos) de la estación de esquí.
