Talking to artificial idiots is a waste of my time. I question the integrity and the motives of any organization that would put me in front of one. *Hard* pass. #ArtificialIdiocy

The #ArtificialIdiocy caricature craze comes at a stark personal cost to privacy and identity. It is also an affront to art and artistry, and a drain on electricity and fresh water.

The AI caricature trend has sinister risks, expert warns

@KristopherWells Senator, it does a grave disservice to the urgency of your heartfelt message that you have elected to illustrate it with the digitized product of stolen valour. There are flesh and blood cartoonists, illustrators, and graphic artists who would have cheerfully contributed their efforts to highlighting your crucial words. My retinas have been seared enough times on LinkedIn by #ArtificialIdiocy to find this sort of thing immensely distasteful to see on Mastodon.

Mexican President Claudia Shienbaum on Monday presented reporters with a picture that purported to show Ryan Wedding, a longtime Canadian fugitive and accused drug kingpin, at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, suggesting it amounted to evidence that he had voluntarily turned himself in. CBC News has determined the image was, in fact, generated using AI and posted to a debunked Instagram account.

Someone has taken to posting #ArtificialIdiocy #Slop Miss Marple stories on YouTube. As unimpressed as Agatha Christie’s literary executors are likely to be by this development, the more pressing question is why someone would waste the time, processing power, and bandwidth on leading some overgrown autocorrect algorithm to conclude “…and I would’ve gotten *away* with it, too, if it hadn’t been for that meddlesome little old lady!”
