"Nowadays, Odin is sometimes used as a symbol within right-wing parties excluding people. To counter this, we used Odin as a contemporary model for equality. His ravens fly around the world to tell him what is happening in the world. One of them whispers it in his ear, after which he takes a critical look at society. Had an interesting night at #FridayNightMarkets tonight... It was really nice weather here today in Eureka, in northern California—around 65°F and sunny. So I think tonight’s crowd was very festive, looking to party and socialize, and just interested in getting out of the house after a tough week.

There were more tourists there tonight than in the past, and my sales were lower than usual. I passed out a LOT of business cards as people balanced their beers and wines in their other hand. It was a different crowd than I’ve thus far experienced there.

But I had some fantastic conversations with folks. I made some genuine connections with folks who simply weren’t there to buy anything.

So I guess it takes all kinds of experiences, right?

Tomorrow I prep for a smaller, more intimately-scaled experience at the local Obon Festival put on by our local Humboldt Asian and Pacific Islanders Association, and I’m really looking forward to that! Lots of drums, dancing, and ancestral communing. I think I need something a bit less intoxicated…
