Here's the Dracunculus vulgaris in bloom. Like I said in the OP, the pollinators are flies, so it attracts flies by smelling like the nastiest roadkill you can imagine.
They have naturalized at my place.
I went to the grocery store to get some boring stuff and came home with this beauty. I think it's a Monstera Thai Constellation. I didn't really need more plants but couldn't resist. This used to cost a lot more than $20 in my neck of woods.
A fascinating look at aroids (Araceae), plants that produce heat. How much heat? The Brazilian plant Philodendron bipinnatifidum actually burns fat to produce temperatures up to 115 °F (46 °C) for two nights and "consumes oxygen at a rate comparable to that of a flying hummingbird".
