It's a substantial moral hazard to give Putin and Russia negotiated concessions, but the risk of a third world war is in any case exaggerated, both as argued from the center/establishment and otherwise. The risks from the two strictly non-exclusive options of more arms to Ukraine or to surrender some territories, are not high in that sense.

Ukraine should decide on their own, and the costs are high, whichever way, but the West should project less.
