@dalias #Firefox seems to have taken a turn towards the dark side (#aislop) and it is not clear whether the money supporting them (read as Google) is driving its new direction [into oblivion?]. Projects like #librewolf and #arkenfox are doing good work but the base is souring.

@3D_Schorsch Ja, aber dafür muss man der Software vertrauen. Das ist, wie wenn Microsoft jetzt tief ins Betriebssystem integriert wird, da geht viel Vertrauen verloren.

Oui, ces forks sont plutôt pour des geeks. Pour des gens avec moins de curiosité technique, le `user.js` d’#Arkenfox fonctionne bien :

Et non, ça n’est pas normal qu’on doive consacrer de l’énergie à contourner les conneries de Mozilla. Déjà à l’époque où j’y bossais, j’ai pu constater qu’hors d’Europe, personne n’en avait rien à carrer du Manifesto… et ça s’est salement dégradé depuis. Un vrai crève-cœur.

@ricardo #Firefox with #arkenfox user settings. I can't browse without history on a daily basis so #mullvadbrowser or #torbrowser just in edge-cases.

Completely different project. #Librewolf is vanilla #Firefox with #privacy hardening through a custom default config.

#Zen has no major privacy hardening, but a ton of custom UI elements and a new extension system for UI additions. Or does it? I havent seen much

Zen can be used with #Arkenfox user.js though, which I would recommend, after changing some defaults

#Firefox drama update:

Been using #Ironfox for Android[1] since Mull by DivestOS has been discontinued a couple of months ago.

Ironfox is a privacy hardened fork of Firefox with proprietary blobs removed. It enables many features upstreamed by the #Tor uplift project using preferences from the #arkenfox `user.js` project.

It's available on the Accrescent, F-Droid and Obtainium stores.
