Haarige Beine

Der Gartenkreuzspinne (Araneus diadematus) ist es draußen auch zu kalt, da hat sie sich drinnen ein Plätzchen mit Aussicht gesucht.

The common garden spider, Uk.

Garden spiders are the most common orb web spider in the UK often found in gardens, giving them their name!

They are greyish-brown with a white cross on their back and spin their famous spiral webs! They sit in the middle of the web waiting to feel the vibrations of a struggling insect in the sticky threads of its web. They then rush out and wrap their prey tightly in silk to stop them from moving – finishing the job with a venomous bite!

This may sound scary – but they are completely harmless to humans!

I like most here, that the world changes its colors to match the spider, how cool is that!

So I finally managed to get the lens of my dreams: the Tamron 150-500mm F5-6.7
I didn't get to test it out that much yet, but as soon as I got more time I'll go out, test it some more and make sure to post it.
I did however test it's macro capabilities and I gotta say, I'm absolutely blown away by this lens.

Morning Jewels – Dew, Webs & Wildflowers at Regte Heide

Yesterday’s early walk on the Regte Heide wasn’t just about the sweeping landscape — it was also about the quiet, intricate wonders revealed on my way back. With the sun slowly rising behind me, the morning dew settled like a gentle veil over everything — from spider webs to flower buds, grasses, and seed heads.

Armed with my Canon 5D Mark III and the Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens, I focused in. The Calluna vulgaris (common heather) had just begun to bloom — visible in the first and fifth photos. In the second, a European garden spider (Araneus diadematus) sits patiently in its dew-covered web, each droplet catching light like tiny crystals.

Photo three reveals seeding grass, delicate and fragile. The fourth features a dew-dusted thistle. Then come two species I identified later with Google Lens: Chamaenerion angustifolium (wilgenroosje) in the sixth shot and Lonicera periclymenum ‘Belgica’ (boskamperfoelie) in the seventh.

And finally — a glance outward again. My Canon 7D Mark II with the Sigma 100–400mm lens captured the distant skyline of my hometown, Tilburg, as seen from the edge of the heather fields.

In every drop and bloom, nature whispers its detail. We just need to slow down and look.

Macro Marvels in the Chaamse Bossen

Exploring the Chaamse Bossen with my Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 65mm macro lens, I encountered two fascinating residents: the Edible Frog (Pelophylax esculentus) and the European Garden Spider (Araneus diadematus).

The Edible Frog, a hybrid species, thrives in the wetlands of the Netherlands, known for its vibrant green hue and distinctive croak. Meanwhile, the European Garden Spider, recognizable by the white cross on its abdomen, diligently weaves its orb-shaped web daily, showcasing nature's architectural prowess.

Capturing these creatures up close reveals the intricate details often overlooked, highlighting the rich biodiversity of Noord-Brabant's woodlands.
