Upgrading My Apple 2GS With Memory And An A2 Pico

Starting the weekend to check on several retro computers that have been in storage for quite a bit. I take the batteries out before putting them in storage to avoid motherboard damage from battery leakage.

I also found some new old stock Radio Shack batteries, purchased during the store liquidation sales around 10 years ago.

No luck, of course. Batteries were dead as expected.

New blog post! I found a multisync CRT that does a really good job of showing the Northern Lights. Thing is, I eventually got bored of that and decided I would like it to show computer stuff instead. Follow along as I do a not-so-quick recap and then build some adapters for my various e-waste!

Flat Panels Aren’t MultiSync 3D

While I adore my NEC PC-TV151, there is one monitor that NEC shipped to our shores that may be the ultimate CRT. This one was cheap, and this one is also very, very sick. Can I cure it so that I can enjoy CGA the way it was meant to be?

AppleWorks on an Apple //GS today.

When entering the date on startup it has to be between '83 & '00 so Y2K is a problem!

Got the IIgs to MultiSync adapter working (needed to connect the shields.) It's a small thing but it makes me happy. Now the machine is more usable! #retrocomputing #retrocomputer #apple2 #apple2gs #crt #retrogaming #moonpatrol

It took me a long time to save for this, and even longer to fill in all the chip slots.

Yes! I remembered I had an extra chip; it’s still in the box. #Apple2 #Apple2gs

Here is another ancient (1989) project of mine written in #assembly language. It was a #shooter #VideoGame I wrote for the #apple2gs. I even created a companion game level editor in TML #Pascal. The editor had a nice feature similar to wave function collapse which is all the rage today to be able to create a game level quickly. I submitted it to a publisher at the time but nothing ever came of it. It is available at the link below for posterity.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here ever put a #bluescsi in a #c64 HDD? I know CMD drives were #SCSI. What about an #apple2 or #apple2gs?
GS progress so far. Cleaned the entire motherboard, swapped the ROM3 to a cleaner case with less discoloration, upgraded to a faster WDC chip, and installed a GGLabs memory expansion card. Also played some Frogger with an #apple2 joystick. #apple2gs
It is time for part 2 of my #Apple2GS video, getting it ready for testing. #RetroComputer #RetroGamming https://youtu.be/UcSF3uc64bk
