Some of the traditional #Dutch deep-fried #NewYearsEve #snacks I made here in #Norway: #oliebollen and #appelbeignets (sort of like #applefritters?). The latter are sometimes also called #appelflappen, though imho those are apple-filled puff-pastry triangles instead.

The #appelflappen / #appelBeignets (sort of #Dutch #appleFritters) turned out mighty fine and tasty too :D

#apple slices that have been bathing overnight in sugar and cinnamon, coated in batter, #deepFried in oil, and then coated with more cinnamon and sugar.

No individual image descriptions, but the first one is four of them floating in piping hot oil in a #castIron pan, and the rest is them cooled down, with or without a cinnamon sugar coating.

#oliebollen are a deep-fried #Dutch snack mostly eaten on and around #NewYearsEve. Some would call them #DutchDoughnuts.
I wrote about them back in #2014, when I shared my grandmother's recipe via #GooglePlus.

yuck... but, the more oliebollen to me!

Also, do yours actually have 'krenten' ('zante currants') in them, or are they actually 'rozijnen' ('raisins')?

I'll have to get started soon on the batter for #appelBeignets (or #appelflappen as my parents used to call them, which was confusing as imho only the triangle-shaped puff pastry should be called that), as well as the #oliebollen batter.
Just 'cuz I live in #Norway, doesn't mean I don't want my deep-fried balls!

Well, the #apples for this year's #Dutch #tradition of #NYE #appelBeignets (sort of #appleFritters?) are marinating overnights in a mixture of vanilla sugar, granulated sugar, #cinnamon, 60% #Stroh #rum and plain white #Bacardi rum. Hopefully I'll remember to take pics for #RecipEasy tomorrow. :)

I used up the last of my #StrohRum though (hence the addition of inferior Bacardi) :(, so I'll want to get a replacement bottle at some point next year.
