@textovervideo Anything's possible - one of my favorite things is working on file format support! But I think more specialized software like #darkable, #rawtherapee, and #anotherrawtherapee will continue to be the best starting point - then you'd bring the image into GIMP for additional editing (either via the loader or via a GIMP plug-in to directly import).

I've been using a modified #Rawtherapee plug-in to load Camera RAW images in #ART (#anotherrawtherapee) and then edit them in #GIMP for my photography class.

I finally cleaned the code up and submitted it for the next development release. So hopefully soon, you'll be able to use ART in addition to the existing #darktable and RawTherapee RAW loaders! :)

@mateodelarioja thanks! I found that editing a full project with new (FOSS) tools was for me the only way to make the transition. Editing a single image was not enough, as I got frustrated with not knowing the shortcuts and went back to the comforts of Adobe. Doing 20 images made sure I got muscle memory and surely enough my pace picked up after 5 images or so.

I still use ART, the #rawtherapee fork and @Krita, but since you're used to Lightroom you might like #darktable.
