Finally, my ultimate troll aimed at this week's topic suggester:

When I think of bicycles in anime, I of course think about shows that include Brothers who are heavily involved in Space. Obviously, I am talking about Planetes.

Hachirota "Hachimaki" Hoshino is the kind of person who dreams big, faces his hardships head on, and pushes through to his goals.

In one part of the show's ending sequence we see him pedaling himself forward towards his future. It's a metaphor, yo!

Speaking of Mawaru Penguindrum, my little #RandomAnime post about the show yesterday accidentally led me to this crazy bicycle sequence where Kanba Takakura must chase down a truck that is getting away with his younger sister's magical possession hat. Without it, she is just a dead body collapsed on the floor!

Reminiscent of Madoka? Penguindrum did come out after... (But just by one season, too soon to have copied the idea!)

There's some pretty cool frantic animation here.

When a couple of bullies try and hold Shirase Kobuchizawa's bicycle hostage hoping to snag a part of her 1 million yen, Mari Tamaki intervenes setting up the founding friendship between "Antartica" and "Kimari" that eventually sees all four of our caterpillars make it to A Place Further than the Universe!

Someone suggested the Bicycles topic was a good excuse to post season 1 Shoshimin screenshots... so I went with season 2 for my main pick.

But I totally took some season 1 shots, too. :p

This sequence of Jogoro and Yuki on their way to the Alice cake shop looks great. In motion these little side shot scenes are interesting because the two appear to ALWAYS be animated in lockstep. Seems like I see a lot more where one character then the other moves on alternating frames.
