A rare gold coin has been found dating back to about 640 CE, it is the oldest coin from East Anglia. On the obverse is a male in a dancing pose who is holding a cross, which is above a valknut. This is a symbol of three interlocking triangles which represent the pagan god Odin. Odin was associated with afterlife and death. It provides a link between the pagan religion and the new religion of the time being Christianity. https://arkeonews.net/earliest-known-east-anglian-gold-coin-found-a-fusion-of-pagan-and-christian-imagery/

The stuff of dreams for budding archaeologists. Pegg a newly qualified archaeologist was oneone of his first professional digs when he found what has been nicknamed 'The Pasty'. Bundled into a cloth and looking like a meat dish encased in pastry (called a Cornish pasty) were 321 silver coins. Even better Pegg was actually born in the area. The coins date to 11th century. https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/archaeology/a64551735/rookie-archaeologist-coin-hoard/

I wonder how much they paid #Carlson , “a representative of the degrading #Anglo_Saxon world” in #Dugin’s terminology, to listen to not only the “chief historian ”, but also the “chief philosopher”?

#ukraine #putinisamasskiller #putinisawarcriminal @kardinal691

#Tucker_Carlson took the position of a silent listener, giving the #Kremlin ideologist the opportunity to speak to an audience of millions about #Putin as a defender of “traditional values.”

What #Dugin was raving about:
🤡 “ #Putin is a traditional leader. He immediately began to remove #Russia from global influence”;
🤡 “Everything destructive began in the #Anglo_Saxon world with a nominalist attitude that there are no ideas, there are only individual things”;

This morning, I was staring into the bleak Manhattan sky thinking about #Anglo_Saxon #history and “Lord” being derived from “loaf guardian” and flashes of #beowulf (as I do), when “5 golden rings” in “12 days of #Christmas “ rang from the audio box and I was struck by “Hrothgar ring-giver” and suddenly I could see the #yule bones beneath the carol.

Thanks all - I've ended up rolling my own - for a start just covering the boundary described in the treaty text. https://github.com/andrewl/danelaw
