Yeah, this is after Allen & Burnham left, and where the original material dropped off in quality post-Solid Gold, and their "farewell tour", but even with that, they were a formidable live act, and Sara Lee & Steve Goulding were a solid rhythm section.

Boy, I miss Gill's incredibly distinctive guitar work.

Let’s get angular.

Other than Jonny Greenwood, there is no guitar player whose style I feel is more analogous to mine than Andy Gill’s.

Violent, slashing, minimalist. Used more as a weapon than as a tool for virtuosity. It was the thing I always loved about Gang Of Four, and still do.

Without Gill, I’m not sure how interesting they would have been. They probably would have sounded like more conventional #newwave or #postpunk , probably devoid of the personality and space his playing provided.

This album in particular is an absolute masterclass in everything that made Andy GREAT.

I miss him immensely, and music owes a lot to him.
