It was only today that I read about the demise and possible resurrection of Anchor Steam .
Then I remembered that I had not seen it on the shelves for a while. I hope that the Chobani yoghurt bloke can bring it back into production, but I understand that getting a defunct brewery working again is no easy task.
I have happy memories of downing Anchor Steam in San Francisco. Please let me enjoy that experience again!

The Anchor Steam yeast (WLP810) is a beast. Three days and I’ve hit FG. I’m going to use this at around 10°C for a German lager and see how it turns out. I should brew two and use Augustiner yeast (WLP860) for the other and compare.
Mid-day decision to brew a California Common since we have such a clear, sunny day - so the electricity is free. Step mash in the Grainfather G40 is crazy simple. I do love decoction beers though sometimes quick and simple is nice. But this has a 90 minute boil - so not entirely quick. Following the mash profile from https://byo.com/article/anchor-clones

Two brews in a day is a major accomplishment. Windy and not so nice weather so was a good day to brew since I couldn’t really do much outside.
Planning to brew a Kölsch tomorrow in anticipation of warmer weather on the horizon. And if I get an early enough start, all goes well, and I have the energy I may also brew a California Common/Anchor Steam-ish beer. Maybe over optimistic - let’s see
My last pour of my California Common. I need to find time to make another batch of this. My intent was to always have this on tap but the new job has slowed down the brewing pipeline.
