Amythyst Kiah is our guest on the latest episode of The Marinade! I have been wanting to sit down with Amythyst for years. This opportunity was a huge honor! #amythystkiah #themarinade #marinadepodcast
From traditional blues and folk to straight up rock, Amythyst Kiah weaves a range of forms together with her powerful voice to share her world through her music.
Find out more about her music at https://thepropagandasite.com/artist/amythyst-kiah
Amythyst Kiah is a singer-songwriter with a range that stretches from small scale, intimate ballads to big numbers with grand stage type vibes and volume. Her origins are in folk and blues, but she also bears a rock edge and has been regularly taking on a classic, '70s type bluesy sound. There is a sense of fluidity to her work that comes from the way she moves between these styles, which makes it hard to pigeonhole her as an artist of any specific genre. She sings in a strong voice that gives her quieter songs more body and weight, and adds a rousing, booming quality to the ones where she projects bigger. She has been collaborating with a good number of major artists in the folk sphere, chief among them, Allison Russell and Leyla McCalla.

On her new album Still + Bright, queer country singer Amythist Kiah firmly steps into her voice with a matter-of-fact pride.

Listened to the three tracks on Apple Music from the upcoming #AmythystKiah album, and they’re all uptempo downers. The sonic sheen on “Play God and Destroy the World” feels very Fleetwood Mac to me. Billy Strings shreds on “I Will Not Go Down.”
Can’t wait to hear more.
LISTEN LOCAL
WTSA
Mastodon Post
Totally by accident, leading up to today's noon news break, I came in on the end of the first episode of WTSA's new local music program, "Listen Local."
https://wtsaradio.com/listen-local/
"Listen Local" features music by local acts and by other acts playing locally. The show is hosted by Mitch Harrison of Next Chapter Records in Putney, Vermont. Local bands named under the "Episode One" heading are Whiskey Treaty Roadshow and Jake McKelvie and the Countertops. Non-local acts named are Colin Hay, Carsie Blanton, Ellis Paul, Lucy Kaplansky, and Amythyst Kiah.
WTSA has a mobile app. In fact, I haven't listened any other way in a very long time.
If the program has gotten a lot of fanfare so far, I am not aware of it. A search of Facebook's Southern Vermont Music Scene, for instance, turned up no references to it. Maybe this Mastodon post can help.

Always great to hear Amythyst Kiah on the wireless!
I’m trying to have a relaxing day #today. Reading The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity, micro-dosing, and listening to music.
