Unlike Wheat and Rice, which have become their own categories, rye remains largely an adjunct to existing styles, typically reds and strong ales. This rye IPA was a new one on me. It's basically a light, slightly fruity, slightly hazy, and quite drinkable American IPA. But what makes it special is a very consistent bitterness start to finish, notes of spices and pepper, and almost no malt character: rather, a very different sort of bread. Very much worth $4/can I paid.
