I've started exploring info on vertical (gameboy like) #retrogaming #emulation handhelds. I'd like something to play #PS1 and below. Come in the range of $100 (CAD). Considering over all physical feel, UI and display quality as my main take away points.
I'm eyeing #ambernic 's RG35XX+, #Trimui 's Brick Hammer and #Retroid 's Pocket Classic among others.
I'm seeing many ways to compare specs. I can make informed 'take away points' based on those, but I also like to hear from actual people using these devices. Anyone in the Fediverse have personal experience, love for or warnings against for any of the above? Suggestions for others?

Anyone else remember those tiny B&W mini tube TVs that @vwestlife did present?

• Cuz someone in #China propably thought:

"What if we copy the idea, but take the worst screen [320x480px] we can get and slap a USB-C Dock under it?"

• At least the seller is honest about the specs and it can do both USB-C & HDMI-In, so if someone wants to make something to play #NES & #GBA games on a #Raspberry #Pi / #Pi0 they propably can make this one work for themselves...

But for me anything below 640x480px is useless and anything below 800x600px not interesting at all...

• Espechally since one can get like the 640x480px screen of the #Ambernic #RG35XXSP for < €25 and that'll be way more useful if one wants do DIY something...

Ordered an Ambernic CubeXX to have something that will play Pico8 content with the minimum amount of fuss. I have an RG 280V, but after a lot of attempts I can't get native Pico8 binary support working, and the emulators don't play everything.
