The rain has driven me inside on a Saturday so you get this playlist early 🎉

The most interesting inclusion is John Farnham's 1988 daggy pop hit Two Strong Hearts which has become a protest song this week as it contains lyrics now banned by a corrupt political party in Queensland, Australia.

A bumper 23 unique songs made into my feed for this week and it's another brilliant, eclectic collection. Unfortunately I couldn't find videos for 4 of the tracks, so we only have 19.

My brother got me into Brian Eno when I was in university. While I do like the occasional ambient stuff from time to time, though, I am a much bigger fan of the albums where he actually sings. "Taking Tiger Mountain" is my favourite, but I also love this track from "Before And After Science". I'm not entirely sure what it's talking about, but it's fine to sing stuff like "If you study the logistics and heuristics of the mystics". But it's much more realistic to abandon such ballistics.

I've long been fascinated by this song. Hearing the crack of the whip is 😬 but I admire the way Dolly can tell a story.

(This song is only related to water in a relatively minor way, but I've been listening to another song about a mule, which made me think of this one.)

As a young child, I learned to play this song on the piano. I just listened to half a dozen versions of it; it was interesting to see the variations. Every version I've ever heard has said "fifteen miles" -- but this one, which was supposedly the original recording, says "fifteen years."
