A different Trafalgar Square.
This one's in my home city of Sunderland in North East England.
In 1747, following an Act of Parliament, seamen were required to pay six pence per month from their wages to support disabled seamen and their families. This became known as the 'Muster Roll Fund'.
In Sunderland's East End, these historic almshouses were subsequently built to accommodate the families of lost seamen.
