This is is my monthly view up the allotment for the end of April. The potatoes are starting to come through, some with a catch-crop of radishes and salad leaves between the rows. Most of the onions grown in the greenhouse from seed have been planted. There's not much room left for the leeks, which are nearly ready to go in. Broad beans and peas are taking off on the far side. The Bramley apple tree is in full bloom.

Dug the last of the leeks yesterday. Although not the biggest, no sign of leek moth or the dreaded allium leaf mining fly, which is good news for this years onions and shallots.

I noticed on Saturday that something had nibbled the sunflower seedling, so this evening I brought down a bottle-top "cloche" from home. This and a bucket of old compost. I didn't stay long due to the rain 🙂 #allotmentgardening #allotments | #kent #england

My friend's little allotment was looking much as I had left it on Tuesday (So much for my visiting everyday, eh?! 😊). A few busy days on the #allotments
On the big one 3 beds made for the poly tunnel, and two of them planted up.
In the small allotment, a small "temporary greenhouse" was built, and filled with potted on seedlings.
We also put in our 1st early potatoes, and did a lot of preparation for the main growing season.

Weekend almost over. Managed to do a few gardening bits and pieces, nothing at the allotment because of Dave (latest UK storm name).
Pricked out leeks, potted on tomato seedlings. Sown more seeds today. More tomato Bloody Butcher as the seedlings that I potted on yesterday have given up the ghost. The Latah tomato's seem to be OK so far. A few flowers to join them as well. Night scented stocks, Nicotianias and cosmos.
So much more to do though
