Agi: Vance duro: "Il Vaticano si attenga alle questioni morali"

AGI - Jd Vance entra a gamba tesa nel caso delle critiche di Donald Trump a Papa Leone. Intervenendo al programma “Special Report with Bret Baier” su Fox News, ha commentato: "Ritengo certamente che, in alcuni casi, sarebbe meglio che il Vaticano si attenesse alle questioni morali... e lasciasse che il presidente degli Stati Uniti si occupi di dettare la politica pubblica americana" ha detto. 

Durante il volo verso Algeri, ieri, il Pontefice aveva replicato con fermezza alle parole del presidente Usa: “Non temo l’amministrazione Trump. Io annuncio il Vangelo, non faccio politica e non ho alcuna intenzione di entrare in polemica con lui”. Leone aveva ribadito il suo messaggio: la pace, rivolta a tutti i leader mondiali, con l’invito a porre fine ai conflitti sottolineando di non ritenere corretto che il Vangelo venga strumentalizzato, come a suo avviso sta accadendo.
E ancora: “Continuo a esprimermi con fermezza contro la guerra, cercando di favorire la pace, il dialogo e la cooperazione tra gli Stati per trovare soluzioni ai problemi. Oggi troppe persone soffrono, troppi innocenti hanno perso la vita, e credo sia necessario che qualcuno si faccia avanti per indicare una strada migliore”.

Vance duro: "The Vatican should adhere to moral issues."

Jd Vance jumped headfirst into the case of Donald Trump’s criticisms of Pope Leone. Appearing on Bret Baier’s “Special Report” on Fox News, he commented: “I certainly believe that, in some cases, it would be better for the Vatican to stick to moral issues… and let the President of the United States deal with dictating American public policy,” he said.

During the flight to Algiers, yesterday, the Pontiff firmly responded to the words of the US president: “I have no fear of the Trump administration. I preach the Gospel, I do not engage in politics, and I have no intention of getting into a dispute with him.” Leone reiterated his message: peace, addressed to all world leaders, with the invitation to end conflicts, emphasizing that he did not believe it was correct for the Gospel to be instrumentalized, as he believes is happening.

And further: “I continue to express myself firmly against war, seeking to foster peace, dialogue, and cooperation between states to find solutions to problems. Today, too many people suffer, too many innocent people have lost their lives, and I believe someone needs to step forward to show a better path.”
