I did the crochet, had a nap, then played around with alcohol ink. I was trying a new technique, blowing the ink around with an empty airbrush. It was quite frustrating; the videos I saw made it look so easy.
It may simply be that I need more practice. What seems more likely is that the glossy cardboard which I am recycling (half the reason I'm doing this!) is simply not glossy enough for ink-blowing to work. It's okay for things like dripping and tilting and pouncing, though.
Possible test: try ink-blowing on acetate sheets to see if that's easier.
Rocks are porous so when people are putting ink and alcohol on them they MUST be using store bought smooth rocks.
I'm assuming because this is a hot mess and I do not like.
I DO know about prepping the rocks but before doing this, out of curiosity, I looked up several how-tos and none of them spoke about prep. This is what I expected to happen.
