Myrddin the Wild was an alleged 6th-century British prophet who inspired the Merlin legend. He was traumatized by the Battle of Arfderydd, and fled into the Caledonian Forest to become a hermit. Later, his sister Gwenddydd built a house for him there with 70 doors and 70 windows.
