Has anyone tried making a PAPR or HEPA stroller? A few people have mentioned the concept but the only source I've found is this one paper: https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-2430680/v1

I'd love practical tips. Right now I can't go into stores with my baby because she can't mask, having the ability to wheel her inside would greatly expand what I can do while caring for my child. Also useful during wildfire smoke.

Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR) and High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) Buggies to Improve COVID-19 Safety for the Youngest Children: Evaluation of Prototypes

Introduction: Young children are susceptible to COVID-19 infection in high-risk settings because they cannot begin vaccination until at least 6 months old and cannot mask safely until at least 2 years old. During essential activities, parents have attempted to protect children in stro...

It's time to start looking for filters for our fan/heat pump/furnace-like blowing device again.

Anyone have recommendations for their favourite Canadian #AirFilter / #AirFiltration retailers, or better yet, manufacturers?

Looking for a custom or at least less-common size, because we need 10" x 24", or optionally 10" x 12". MERV13. Place I bought from in March 2024 now asks nearly double the price...

@AmeliasBrain

Thank you for the more detailed info!

On a related note, I am NOT impressed that the #AirQualityWarning from #EnvironmentCanada this time around makes NO mention of wearing a #respirator to reduce exposure.

Household #AirFiltration, yes, but #PPE? No.

@ElwoodCity @init6

Seconded. You can also make them from pretty much any fan and in different configurations:

For example, it is far cheaper for me to acquire MERV-13 furnace filters in the size most commonly used here instead of the square filters.

I also make life easier for myself by constructing a frame from coroplast and tape (or hot glue -- either works) which makes swapping out filters a cinch.

Feeling the Chill—Understanding the Impact of Extreme Cold – AIR SUPPORT PROJECT

Extreme cold events aren't just numbers on a thermometer—they affect how we live, work, and stay healthy. The air feels sharper, your fingers might go numb in minutes, and staying outside too long can lead to serious health risks. To truly understand these risks, we need to look beyond the temperature and consider how the cold impacts our bodies.

So it's taking lawyers using Freedom of Information regs to drag statistics about how many people are contracting covid in hospitals out of the organizations who, just to be clear about this, a) are supposed to be caring for us and b) already know.

And as always, be sure to follow basic safety and health precautions, like updated vaccinations, masking, and air filtration.
