Zelestra Opens First #Italian #Agrivoltaic Plant

#Zelestra has brought its first operational #Solar project in #Italy online with the launch of a 6.5 MWdc agrivoltaic plant in #Ginosa, #Puglia.

The project is expected to generate 11.7 GWh of #CleanElectricity each year, enough to supply around 4,000 Italian households. It is also projected to avoid almost 3,700 tonnes of #CO2 emissions annually.

Last year, we found that you could increase strawberry yield by 18 per cent under solar panels compared to strawberries in an open field. This agrivoltaic crop yield bump has been shown for dozens of other crops and solar panel combinations all over the world, including basil, broccoli, celery, corn, grapes, kale, lettuce, pasture grass, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes and more
